Paddy Kelly
[Photo: Paddy and his wife Joelle, happily married. (Photo credit: Sveinn Baldvinsson)]

He did it :-)

Paddy just married the heartthrob of his youth, Joelle Verreet. On April 13 they celebrated their wedding on the Irish Westcoast. Already as a teenager Paddy had a "massive" crush on the present-day journalist, as he says. But for a long time nothing more came out of it. Back then he wrote the song "Looking for Love" out of lovesickness, since his sweetheart had no interest in him. Two decades later, things are completely different now.

"In many respects we click on the same frequency", says Paddy. The born Belgian is doing her doctorate on philosophy of religion and spent a lot of time in european monasteries during her academic years. Mutual experiences, like voluntary services with the Missionaries of Charity, are shared by the couple. "But we're both bullheads and love our personal freedom", he adds laughing. "I can completely be myself next to her, she is a gift from heaven for me."

With Paddy's new song "The Waltz", written for his female squeeze, 1993's "Looking for Love" receives its fulfilling answer. The song will be on his upcoming solo CD, planned for release by the end of the year. But also in private respect, Paddy is up to quite something: "We are very happy and want to raise a family."

Surrounded by family and friends, the wedding ceremony was held in three languages at the 800 years old Ballintubber Abbey and was accompanied by monks from Paddy's monastery days.

Paddy's Homepage team congratulates the bridal couple and wishes them the very best!

In March 2013 Paddy will be giving a series of solo concerts as a part of his Eurosarium Tour, visiting Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. The reportoir will be a mixture of songs from his first solo CD, some from the Kelly Family days, certain covers and new compositions he is preparing for the upcoming album. With no band attached, the acoustic performances will have a very personal and intimate character and are limited to smaller audiences. "I really look forward to the challenge and fun of these solo concerts", Paddy says..

Once a year numerous celebrities get together for a unique 2-days tv-event in order to collect money for children in need. Early in the morning, Paddy visited Wolfram Kons live at the studio and created a large-sized painting entitled "The Holy Spirit of Love". It centers around a cheerful dove spreading her wings and revealing a big red heart, while from all sides people reach out with their hands. Bids for the painting will be accepted via until Sunday, November 25, 8pm. The proceeds will got to the projects of the RTL-Spendenmarathon.

Alongside Paddy, his sister Patricia was also there and answered donation calls by the audience on the phone. Their brother Joey proved himself once again as an extreme athlet: For 24 hours he walked up a descending escalator and thus set a record for the Guinness Book.

Paddy is currently busy with preparations and promotion activities for the "Stille Nacht"-Tour, an extraordinary project for which he and his siblings Joey, Patricia, Kathy and Paul got together.

Accompanied by a live band, dancers, a children's choir and a narrator, the Kelly siblings stage the original Christmas story with "Stille Nacht" in an entertaining, reflective and festive way. One of the artists joining them on stage will be Russian star Natalya, a sand paintress, who creates beautiful stories by skillfully pouring sand onto canvas. With the music playing, her images will be projected live on a big screen.

Also, what started out as spontaneous performances of the new generation of Kelly kids during the tour in 2011 has become a part of the fixed program this year. The evening will include many international Christmas songs as well as some of the big Kelly hits.

Art Peace: Video-Documentary on Paddy's exhibition in Fulda

For the first time ever, Paddy exhibited his paintings on September 28th and 29th in Fulda. The events at the Radom and the Kinderakademie were accompanied by a film crew, resulting in a little documentary on the Art Peace Events of about 10 minutes. The video was made public today and is ready for everyone to be seen. A lovely memory for those who attended the exhibition and a nice consolation for those who did not have the chance. Either way: Enjoy!

Paddy rocks the church in France and sings in honor of Pope John Paul II in Poland

Paddy Kelly in Orleans
[Photo: Paddy at the Cathedral Sainte-Croix d'Orleans.]

Last weekend Paddy was busy bringing his music to France and Poland. On Saturday he held a concert in the Cathedral Sainte-Croix d'Orleans. The numerous young people in the crowd could not hold back their enthusiasm during this first pop/rock concert ever held in the Cathedral of the city of St. Joan of Arc. Paddy was joined by the French rapper/singer and frontman of the band "Les Guetteurs" with whom he sang "God is Love". He also performed a solo version of "Une famille c'est use chanson", an old Kelly Family track dating back to the 80's.

The next day, the national Polish tv held the "Song of songs" event in honor of Pope John Paul II on the street of Warsaw. At this occasion, Paddy sang the classic "One more song" as well as "Agape", a new track for which the Polish tv orchestra delivered the musical arrangments. The performance was recorded for you to enjoy. Watch and listen below.

Art Peace events coming closer

Paddy Kelly in Fulda
[Photo: Paddy in front of a giant walk-in heart at the Children's Academy in Fulda.]

Preparations for the first exhibition of Paddy's paintings on the 28th and 29th of September in Fulda are being made. Since the 1990's he has been experimenting with colours and shapes and soon developed his own style. The public presentation of his work will be a chance for everyone attending to get to know a different artistic side of the musician.

But the "Art Peace" events are not just usual exhibitions. Known for his engagement for peace in the past, Paddy wishes to stress the need for a culture of peace through his paintings. "I find it of great importance to counterweight the numerous wars and violent tendencies in the world with a culture peace. According to a study, there were but 21 days in the last century without war on earth. The Art Peace events may only be a drop of water on a hot stone, but the more drops fall on it, the quicker the stone will cool down", Paddy explains his intention.

The locations for the events were thoughtfully chosen. The Radom on the Wasserkuppe served as a military institution during the Cold War but is now a cultural memorial. It reminds of the brave and peaceful fight that the people of the former GDR fought in order to make their dream of freedom come true. Hence it is a place that symbolizes a troubled past that got transformed into a brighter present.

However, with children being our future, chosing the Children's Academy Fulda for the second day of the exhibition, means to focus on a better tomorrow. Both perspectives combined provide with an idea of how peace is possible and should always be actively strived after.

Paddy back in Studio

Paddy Kelly back in studio

After performing in France and Austria, Paddy goes back into studio to continue working on his upcoming album. Together with Ralf Gustke on the drums and Robbee Mariano on the bass – both known for their collaboration with Söhne Mannheims and Xavier Naidoo – as well as Dondieu Divin on piano and keyboards, he is currently recording a number of brand new and some older compositions.

Dondieu Divin

The latter include a title called "Where do we go from here" which was already composed in 1997 but yet has not been released. Among the newer songs will be "Parousia" which reflects on the end of time, and "Agape", the title song of the identically named tour from June this year.

"Making an album is like a pregnancy in which the baby develops until the day comes when everything is fully grown and it's ready to come out", says Paddy. "A lot of these songs were written during the time in the monastery. That's where the spirit of this new music was conceived. It's very exciting to hear them take shape. It's a bit like watching an unborn baby thorugh the ultrasound, were you don't exactly know what it will look like until it's born." Stay tuned for more.

The musician shows an other artistic side

Public presentation of his works at selected locations on September 28th and 29th

Paddy Kelly - Art Peace

Already in the 1990's, the musician with Irish roots discovers his passion for another artistic form of expression: Painting. He begins to experiment with colours and shapes and develops his own unique style. The young painter's work contains seriousness paired with refreshing innocence and in part childish, playful perspectives. In his pictures he processes emotions, questions, experiecnes and desires – very intimate messages. This distinctly personal approach, the source of his work, allows an insight into the person Paddy Kelly and his inner self. He does not consider his works as decorative objects but as a chance to express his feelings and convictions.

Painting is amongst others a way for him to find his personal inner peace. But Paddy does not limit that to his own peace. With his philosophy of "Art Peace" he wants to make a contribution to the peace of others as well. As an ambassador of Caritas International he supports projects that bring about peace. He donates parts of the proceeds of the sold pictures and also of the ticket revenues of the "Art Peace"-events to said projects.

On friday, September 28th, an event entitled "Art Peace" will take place at the Radom on the Wasserkuppe/Hessen. In collaboration with gallery Bilder Fuchs from Fulda, Paddy will present his works for the first time publically and also accompany the event musically. The location of the premiere was very carefully chosen by him.

After World War II the Radom was under military use during Cold War between East and West. Today it is a cultural memorial and monument of the Cold War – due to the urge for freedom and the faith of the people of the former GDR, who achieved the realization of a supposed utopian goal – their freedom – by means of their commitment, their stamina and energy alone.

Paddy wants to address the topic of peace in particular, since it had been the faith and prayers for peace in Leipzig's St. Nicholas Church, which cleared the path for a peaceful German reunification.

On Saturday, Semptember 29th, the artist will show his work at the Children's Academy Fulda.Again Paddy, supported by further musicians, will also perform some of his songs at that occasion. Additionally, he will explain his works and discusss them with the audience.

Unlike the evening at the Radom, which focuses on the past, the main thought of the second evening aims at the future, a peaceful future, which – depending on how they get raised and educated – is in the hands of the children. In advance of the event, the artist will start a transnational painting project with children from the Academy and children from Haiti.

In order to not let his pictures remain unreachable, he decided to produce some of them as high-class art prints, limited to 150 items each. Every sheet will be numbered and manually signed by the artist. The prints can be bought on both evenings.

Afterwards they will exclusively be available via the official online-shop under

Paddy performs at the Anuncio Love Revolution Festival in Paris

Paddy's performance at the popular Christian festival on August 25 at the Sacre Coeur Basilika on Montmartre consisted of a concert with his band and joint ventures with other international artists. The collaborations were dedicated to promulgating the importance of love, faith, freedom, justice and truth in a world heavily influenced by individualism, materialism and consumerism.

This common aim found its particular expression in a medley of cover songs from Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Beatles and Bob Marley. Paddy kicked it off with a version of "The times they are a-changin'" and ended with a sympathetic "All you need is love" which was the core of the festival's message.

During Paddy's concert, young Parisian rapper/singer Fratoun joined him on stage for a powerful version of "God is love". The other artists were equally invited to participate in the closing song "Thanking Blessed Mary".

Says Paddy, "I find that artists have an important role to play in reminding people of the essential human values in life. Especially when politics and economy are not in service of a healthy humanism and even enslaving humanity in many ways."

The long awaited new album is in the works

A reason for pleasant anticipation: For his upcoming album, Paddy just began the recording process in studio this week. He plans to record a total of 20 to 25 tracks throughout the next months of which a final selection will then be taken for the album. The styles vary from fast rock over pop and folk elements to acoustic ballads. So far 9 songs have reached their first recording phase. Stay tuned for more to come.

Stille Nacht Tour – Huge run on tickets after start of presale on August 6th

The Kelly siblings did not expext such an enormous rush for tickets: Only shortly after the presale had started on monday, August 6th, the server capacities were fully stretched and further ticket systems had to be activated in order to match the huge demand. "We are really very happy that our tour is so popular and that the audience secured seats so early on", says Paddy Kelly, initiator and head of "Stille Nacht".

In December 2011 the musical christmas story went on tour for the first time, and due to the huge success, Paddy and his siblings Joey, Kathy, Patricia (not attending a few evenings) and Paul decided to stage it again this year with new ideas and some added surprises. Accompanied by dancers, actors, a live band and a narrator, they tell the "original" christmas story in an entertaining way. Says Paddy, "With our project we hope to make people think about values, traditions and what is really important in life." Of course, a lot of music is to be heard as well and hence the production provides for a festive and contemplative evening for the whole family.

The tour dates are:

Stille Nacht 2012

Together with some of his siblings, Paddy Kelly goes in tour again with the musical christmas story – Presale starts August 6th

HP1 Various sold-out houses after 5 days already – that is how the 5 Kelly siblings' "Stille Nacht"-Tour startet off last year. After the huge success in 2011, Paddy, Patricia (not part of every concert), Kathy, Paul and Joey decided to stage the musical christmas story together with organizer Manfred Hertlein in december 2012 again. And they tell this story in their own special way: Accompanied by dancers, actors, a narrator and of course a lot of music, the production provides with over 2 hours an atmospheric and contemplative evening for the whole family.

The show is scheduled for 11 cities this time and due to the enormous demand, the siblings play in less places than last year, but chose bigger halls instead. "We have worked a lot on this project in the last few months and added a few new ideas and surprises compared to last year. When deciding for the bigger venues it was important for us to not lose an intimate atmosphere", says Paddy, who newly orchestrates the stage production together with theatre director Joachim Lang. Thus the siblings partially use with theatre seating.

With "Stille Nacht", the siblings want to establish an opposite pole to the countless commercial christmas shows and tell the "Soriginal" christmas story instead. Says Paddy, "With our project we hope to make people think about values, traditions and what is really important in life." How successful they were in achieving this last year was proven by positive reactions coming from media and audience alike.

The siblings are accompanied by an international live band, and also the offspring, the next Kelly generation, will enter the stage on various occasions. And of course: Next to many well-known christmas songs from all over the world, a couple of Kelly-Hits will be heard as well, including "An Angel", "Fell In Love With An Alien", "Why Why Why" or "One More Song".

Paddy kicked off the series of 10 AGAPE evenings with a sold out premier in Düsseldorf.
The spiritual concert with a mixture of old songs such as One more song, Fell in love with an alien, Rain of roses and others, and new spiritual songs which are to go on his upcoming album, was greatly appreciated. His sister Patricia joined in as special guest for a common performance of Calling Heaven. The prayer vigil that followed had a beautiful atmosphere of grace and Paddy was visibly happy throughout the evening, whether in euphoric joy or sunk in contemplation when singing with eyes closed.
See below some new pictures.

Few tickets are left for the remaining AGAPE evenings (see events)
